The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave...

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
** Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein**: for the time is at hand. Rev 1:1-3

Hello, How is everyone today? We are beginning the fourth chapter into the Book of Ephesians. Glad to have each and every one of you in study and fellowship with us.

Heavenly Father, We give thanks for this glorious day, We give thanks for our Savior Jesus Christ, for all. We pray for the Holy Kingdom Come, and for our Messiahs return. We pray for those that are lost today, may they receive the Good News. We pray for those that are struggling or ill, may they be healed. We pray forgiveness on our sins, and forgiveness unto others. May we be led in the Holy Spirit, and not of the flesh, May we be led away from temptations and delivered from all evil. We give thanks, Praise and Glory in Thy Name..Amen!!

THE PRACTICE OF BELIEVERS

IN RELATION TO OTHER BELIEVERS:

Here begins Paul's exhortation for his readers to promote the unity of the church through godly living(v.1-6) and, through a diversity of gifts, to contribute to the commmon welfare (v.7-16). vocation = calling; i.e., our heavenly calling.

lowliness. = humility. meekness = gentleness.

Ephesians 4:1

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.

Ephesians 4:2

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Ephesians 4:3

Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Ephesians 4:4

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

Ephesians 4:5

One Lord, one faith, one baptism.

Ephesians 4:6

One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Ephesians 4:7

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Ephesians 4:8

Wherefore He saith, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Ephesians 4:9

(Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

Ephesians 4:10

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things.)

one baptism. I.e., the baptism of the Spirit, which brings us into the unity of the Body of Christ.

God is Father in four relationships: (1) here, of all men by virtue of being their Creator; (2) of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 3:17); (3) of Israel (Ex. 4:22); and (4) of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ(Gal. 3:26).

In 1 Cor. 12:7-11 Paul attributes the giving of spiritual gifts to the Spirit; here he ascribes it to the ascended Christ.

He led captivity captive. Paul uses an illustration from Ps. 68:18 in which the triumphant warrior is elevated when he returns with hosts of prisoners receiving gifts from the conquered people and distributing gifts to His followers. Christ conquered satan and all that had conquered us.

These verses(v.9-10) are a parenthetical aside, to comment on "He ascended"(v.8) and to prove that only Christ fits the description.

lower parts of the earth. Could mean that Christ descended into Hades between His death and resurrection. Or, more likely, "of the earth" is better understood as an appositional phrase, meaning that Christ descended (at His incarnation) into the lower parts (of the universe), namely the earth.

Even though God's plan is centered on His soverign purposes and power, we have important responsibilities as well. What we believe about God is crucial, but so is the manner in which we live. For many of us, we are hindered by our faults, especially our stubborn pride. As we trust God to help us, His Holy Spirit will replace our character flaws with humility, love, and patience. When God asks us to live a certain way, He provides the power we need to succeed.

Welcome Back, We are continuing in Chapter 4 of Ephesians today. Glad to have everyone of you with us in fellowship of God's Holy Word.

Heavenly Father, We come together today to study in Your Holy Word, to be led in the Holy Spirit in all we do. We pray for those that are lost, that are spiritually blind. We pray they receive the True Message of Jesus Christ. The Good News of the Holy Kingdom. That they may know that You are the Almighty God, there is no other. We pray forgiveness on our sins today, and forgiveness unto others. We pray we are not led into temptations today. We pray to be delivered from all evil, all false doctrine. We give thanks Praise and Glory in Thy Name . Amen!!!

IN RELATION TO SPIRITUAL GIFTS:

apostles. The word apostle means "one sent forth" as an ambassador who bears a message and who represents the one who sent him. The qualifications included (1) seeing the Lord and being an eyewitness to His resurrection(Acts 1:22; 1 Cor. 9:1), (2) being invested with miraculous sign-gifts (Acts 5:15-16; Heb. 2:3-4), and (3) being chosen by the Lord or the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1-2; Acts 1:26. prophets. Strickly speaking, those who were given direct revelation by God to communicate to men. evangelists. I.e., preachers of the gospel. pastors and teachers. The two ministries are linked together here, through separated elsewhere(Rom. 12:7; 1 Peter 5:2).

Ephesians 4:11

And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Ephesians 4:12

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Ephesians 4:13

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Ephesians 4:14

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and from, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Ephesians 4:15

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Ephesians 4:16

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

IN RELATION TO THE FORMER LIFE:

Ephesians 4:17

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.

Ephesians 4:18

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Ephesians 4:19

Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

perfecting. Gifts should be used to equip others for service and maturity.

sleight = cunning.

Here begins a long passage(v.17, ending at 6:9) in which Paul draws the logical conclusions, in terms of life and morals, that follow from membership in Christ's body.

being past feeling = become callous.

We have been gifted in ways that make us necessary to others. Others have been gifted in ways that make them necessary to us. Some of us have special gifts for teaching others about God. Others may have the gift of caring for hurting people. Our individual gifts are important the emotional and spiritual growth of others. God has a purpose for each of us, so we must strive to know Him better through prayer and meditation on His Word. He will show us what our gifts are and how we can use them to help others. As we share our gifts and receive the benefits of other people's gifts, we will find the body of Christ growing stronger and full of love.

Hello, How is everyone? I hope everyone had a Wonderful Weekend. We are continuing in Ephesians chapter 4 today. Glad to have each and every one of you with us in fellowship and the study of God's Holy Word.

Heavenly Father, We come together giving praise today for all, for our Savior Jesus Christ. We give thanks for this glorious day, for every glorious day you provide. We pray blessings on our sisters and brothers today, May thay walk in Thy Will, and be comforted in The Holy Spirit. We pray for all children to hear the message, to know the hope in You, to know Truth in our Savior Jesus Christ. We give thanks, Praise and Glory..Amen!!

Ephesians 4:20

But ye have not so learned Christ;

Ephesians 4:21

If so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:

Ephesians 4:22

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Ephesians 4:23

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Ephesians 4:24

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousnees and true holiness.

Ephesians 4:25

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.

Ephesians 4:26

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Ephesians 4:27

Neither give place to the devil.

Ephesians 4:28

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Ephesians 4:30

And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Ephesians 4:31

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.

Ephesians 4:32

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

The laying aside and putting on are statements of facts that they had learned to be true, but the renewing(v.23) is something to be done continually. the old man...the new man. The old is what we were before we were saved, and the new is the new life we have in Christ (see 2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 2:20).

There is an anger that is not sinful, but even this must not be allowed to stay and fester and give the devil an opportunity.

corrupt. Unwholesome or rotten.

the Holy Spirit is grieved or pained by sin, especially the sins of the tongue (v.29,31).

evil speaking. Lit., blasphemy or slander.

We need to commit to knowing God better through prayer and meditation on His word. In examining our life, we realize just how demanding God's standards for righteousness living are, but since it is God's grace that helps us conform to His will, we need not despair. as we obey Him, He will teach us to live without bitterness, anger, or harsh words. God is in the business of healing our relationships. When we do things His way, we are well on the way to building better relationships.

Hello, How is everyone? We are beginning chapter 5 in Ephesians today. Glad to have all of you with us in fellowship and the study of God's Holy Word.

Heavenly Father, We pray for the Holy Kingdom Come, for our Messiahs return. We give thanks for all, for our Savior Jesus Christ. We pray forgiveness on our sins and forgiveness unto others. We pray for those that are not feeling well, or ill, to be healed in Jesus Name. We pray for our sisters and brothers on here today, May they be led in the Holy Spirit and walk in Thy Will. We give thanks, Praise and Glory in Thy Name..Amen!!

IN RELATION TO EVIL:

followers. Lit., imitators, especially in love.

a sweet smelling savour. The sweet savor offerings of Lev. 1-3 prefigured the voluntary character of Christ's sacrifice.

Ephesians 5:1

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Ephesians 5:2

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Ephesians 5:3

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Ephesians 5:4

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Ephesians 5:5

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Ephesians 5:6

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Ephesians 5:7

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

Ephesians 5:8

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.

Ephesians 5:9

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Ephesians 5:10

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

Ephesians 5:11

Adn have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

foolish talking, nor jesting. I.e., unclean speech, often veiled in innuendo or double meaning.

A greedy person is an idolater because he puts things before God.

Believers reprove the sins of other believers through church discipline (1 Cor. 5).

We are told to follow God's example in all that we do. God wants us to be like Jesus Christ-to think and act like Him. We are to love our enemies. We are to avoid sexual immorality, greed, and obscene language, since they stand counter to God's character. These requirements are right in line with what we need to do. WE are to seek to rebuild our broken relationships, avoid destructive behaviors, admit our sins, and seek the Lord. As difficult as imitating Christ might sound, anything is possible with God's Almighty help.

Everyone have a Wonderful Day,

Ephesians 5:12

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

Ephesians 5:13

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Ephesians 5:14

Wherefore He saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and CHRIST shall give thee light.

Ephesians 5:15

Se then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.

Ephesians 5:16

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:17

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the LORD is.

IN RELATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT:

Ephesians 5:18

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Ephesians 5:19

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart of the LORD.

Ephesians 5:20

Giving thanks always for all things unto GOD and the FATHER in the name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST;

Ephesians 5:21

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Perhaps a portion of an early Christian hymn exhorting the sining believer to Awake and arise.

circumspectly = diligently, carefully

Redeeming the time. Making the most of time.

be filled with the Spirit. Paul has taught in this epistle that all believers are sealed with the Spirit when they believe(1:13-14;4:30), but not all are filled, since that depends on yieldness to God's will(v.17). "Filling" describes an experience that can be repeated (Acts 2:4; 4:31), and here, as in Acts, it is connected with joy, courage, spirituality, and Christian character. Though contrasted with drunkenness, the filling of the Spirit compares the idea of control, either of wine over a person or the Spirit over the believer.

to yourselves. Better, to one another. Making music in one's heart is mentioned at the end of this verse.

submitting. The key thought for understanding Paul's view of proper personal relationships in a Christian household; the subjection is to be mutual and based on reverence for God. The differing responsibilities, if followed, bring harmony, but if ignored, they bring difficulties.

Hello, We are continuing in Ephesians 5:22 today!!!

Heavenly Father, We give thanks today for all, for our Savior Jesus Christ, for Thy Holy Word. We pray for the Holy Kingdom Come, and for our Messiah's return. We pray for all nations, that they may recieve our Savior Jesus Christ, and the Good News of the Holy Kingdom. We pray for all that are facing hardships, struggling with illness, May you comfort, strengthen, and heal them. We pray for all of our brothers and sisters, that they may walk in the Holy Spirit and not in the flesh, may we be led from temptations and delivered from all evil. We give thanks, Praise and Glory in Thy Name..Amen!!!

IN RELATION TO HOME LIFE:

Wives are to submit to the leadership of their husbands in the home(v. 22,24); they are to respect their husbands(v.33), they are to love their husbands(Titus 2:4) and live with them until death (Rom. 7:2-3).

Husbands are to love their wives, lead them, (v.23), nurture them in the things of Christ (v.29), and live with them faithfully for life (Matt. 19:3-9).

Ephesians 5:22

Wives, subit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the LORD.

Ephesians 5:23

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and He is the Savior of the body.

Ephesians 5:24

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it.

Ephesians 5:26

That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.

Ephesians 5:27

That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be Holy and without blemish.

Ephesians 5:28

So ought men to lvoe their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Ephesians 5:29

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the LORD the church:

Ephesians 5:30

For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones.

Ephesians 5:31

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Ephesians 5:32

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Ephesians 5:33

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

The ultimate purpose of Christ's death is to present us to Himself without blemish.

The relationship between believing husbands and wives illustrates that which exists, between Christ (the bridegroom) and the church(His bride). See also Matt. 25:1-13; Rev. 19:7-8;21:2.

When our life is out of control, family and tensions and conflict are common. Paul tells us that the home should be a place where love and mutual respect are shown. Husbands and wives should love each other and be sensitive to each other's needs, showing the same love Christ showed the church. If we selfishly seek only our own needs, we neglect and hurt other people that it is our responsiblity to love and support. We need to establish a family atmosphere of love and mutual respect.

Everyone have a Wonderful Blessed Day in the Lord!!!

Hello, How is everyone today? We are beginning the Sixth Chapter into the Book of Ephesians. Glad to have Each and Every one of you here with us in fellowship and the study of God's Holy Word.

Heavenly Father, We give thanks for bringing us together to study in Thy Holy Word today. We give thanks for all, for our Savior Jesus Christ. We pray for the Holy Kingdom Come, and our Messiahs return. We pray for all that are lost, that cannot see yet, that they may receive the Gift, that they may receive The Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ, Our Savior. We pray for all the children in all the nations to be fed today, nourished by Word and food, that they may receive the Good News. We pray for all that are ill today, may they be comforted and healed in the Holy Spirit, in Jesus Wonderful Name. We pray for our sisters and brothers today, that they may walk in Thy Holy Spirit, be led from temptations, and delivered from all evil. We give thanks, Glory and Praise in Thy Name..Amen!!!

in the Lord. I.e., obedience to parents is part of a child's obligation to Christ whether or not the parent's are believers. See the example of Christ in Luke 2:51 and Heb. 5:8.

Ephesians 6:1

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

Ephesians 6:2

Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

Ephesians 6:3

That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Ephesians 6:4

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:5

Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

Ephesians 6:6

Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Ephesians 6:7

With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

Ephesians 6:8

Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

Ephesians 6:9

And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with Him.

Ephesians 6:10

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

first. Of primary importance. A rebel has less chance of living long (1 Sam. 4:11). When a child marries, his relationship to his parents changes (5:31) but not his responsibility to provide for them (1 Tim. 5:4).

provoke not. I.e., do not nag or arbitrarily assert authority.

Servants. Lit., Slaves, in singleness of your heart. I.e., in reality and sincerity, nor hypocrisy.

do the same things as described for slaves in verses 5-6.

Paul directed both parents and children to show love toward one another. Children are to honor their parents. The widespread disrespect shown toward parents today leads to deep emotional scars both in parents and children. Paul also warned parents to treat their children with love and respect. Through ridicule and neglect parents can create resentment that may scar their children for life. Whether we are parents or children who have failed, we need to admit our failures and seek to make things right.

Comment by Tonya on September 28, 2009 at 12:47am
Hello, We are continuing in Ephesians chapter 6 today. It is a joy to have all of you with us in group studying and in fellowship of God's Holy Word.

Heavenly Father, We give thanks for bringing us all together to worship and study in Thy Word today. We give thanks for all, for our Savior Jesus Christ. We pray that we can all come together, putting our differences aside, and die to the flesh, so we may become One in Jesus Name, in the Holy Spirit, in the Body of Christ. We pray the Good News reaches the spiritually blind today, may they receive in their hearts Our Savior. May they come to you through Christ. We pray for forgiveness of our sins and the sins of others. We come to you giving thanks, Praise and Glory in Thy Name..Amen!!

Put on. This is the believer's responsibility. armor. At this time Paul was being guarded by Roman soldiers. wiles = craftiness.

Ephesians 6:11

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Ephesians 6:13

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Ephesians 6:14

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Ephesians 6:15

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Ephesians 6:16

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:18

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Ephesians 6:19

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.

Ephesians 6:20

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Ephesians 6:21

But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tych'-i-cus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things.

Ephesians 6:22

Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs and that he might comfort your hearts.

Ephesians 6:23

Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:24

Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Chrsit in sincerity. A-men'.

The believer's enemies are the demonic hosts of satan, always assembled for mortal combat.

truth holds everything together and refers to the beleiver's integrity. breastplate of righteousness. Righteousness practiced by the believer to protect the chest and hart from satan.

The gospel gives our feet (and lives) support and stability.

The large (2.5 x 4 ft, or .75 x 1.2 m) Roman shield covered with leather, could extinguish flaming arrows. The shield consists of faith.

The helmet guards our mind and thoughts. The sword, the only offensive weapon mentioned, is the Word spoken to our hearts.

Prayer should be said on all occasions, in the power, of the Spirit, persistent, and for all believers, since all are targets of satan.

Even in prison Paul was not thinking of his own welfare but of his testimony for Christ.

While we may be firmly grounded in sound doctrine and accept our responsibility to live a godly life, we must be aware of the fierce, invisible warfare satan wages against us. Many of our struggles could be the result attacks by spiritual enemies. Since we continue to struggle with temptations. We need to confess our sins and weaknesses. If we turn our life and will over to God, He will stand with us in the battle.

Notice that each piece of spiritual armor (except the sword) is defensive in nature. We need to surround ourselves with truth, righteousness, faith and prayer. These will protect us aginst the assault of hostile spiritual forces. The forces arrayed against us are powerful, but the weapons God gives us are adequate for our defense. Part of that armor-the shoes-enables us to share the Good News of God's delivering power with others, giving hope to them.

Everyone have a Beautiful Blessed Weekend in the Lord!!!
